BioMeridian Testing
Electro-Dermal Testing
Original Electro-Dermal testing was developed in the early 1950's by Dr. Voll. His technique involved a complex procedure that involved measuring hundreds of acupuncture points. Over the last 35 years, a number of German doctors, dentists and scientists developed this technique further to apply biophysical techniques to Oriental Acupuncture. The modern Electro-Dermal testing method uses much of Dr. Voll's research.
BioMeridian Testing (Electro-Dermal Testing) is a non-invasive energetic evaluation we use at Integrative Healing Arts. We use BioMeridian MSAS technology and find it to be the most specific and comprehensive machine available.
To measure the skin resistance on the acupuncture point, a slight potential difference (voltage) is produced between a large hand electrode that is held by the patient and a smaller tip electrode that is held against the acupuncture point.
The purpose of the procedure is to measure the changes in skin resistance at the acupuncture point and the electrode held by the patient. The test doesn't involve needles, scratches or shocks, making it entirely painless. The procedure reveals specific information about the patient's health phase of the disease and which precede more advanced visible tissue changes.
The testing procedures involve several stages:
First Test
The first test is an organ scan, which reveals energetic imbalances in specific organs. It may also show general areas of system stress which may require deeper investigation. It is important to note that these results are not diagnostic. Instead, the supplement other means in diagnosis and treatment.
Subsequent Testing
Depending on the major findings on the first test (organ scan), physical examination and patient history, subsequent testing may be required. Further testing may involve a search for specific toxins, food sensitivities, infections, focal stressors, dental foci or other significant health stressors.
Follow-Up Testing
BioMeridian testing cannot be used for an absolute diagnosis, however it provides a significant benefit as an indicator of an underlying dysfunction. Follow up testing may regularly occur to monitor the progress of the recommended treatment programs as well as to determine if there are deeper problems that may be of concern.
