Trauma Recovery

Trauma, such as a result of motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, spinal injuries, post traumatic stress disorders or toxic burdens is the prime reason the physicians at Integrative Healing Arts are consulted.

As the nature and extent of any trauma is diverse and complex it is essential to be able to evaluate the full orthopedic, kinesiological, biochemical and energetic damage that has been experienced. When an injury occurs many processes are set in motion to reduce further trauma and stabilize all the existing physiological systems. A type of neurological “ dissociation” sets in that initially protects us but in the long term compromises our ability to recover. As a result we have devised many therapeutic options to help the body and spirit to remember and resolve.

These may involve:

  • Physical medicine such as spinal manipulation (gentle and non-forced approaches), osteopathic Cranial – Sacral manipulation, soft tissue mobilization techniques, A. R. T. and rehabilitative exercise programs.
  • Nutritional evaluation and support as an essential adjunct to reduce inflammation and guarantee adequate absorption of essential nutrients to rebuild injured tissue.
  • Prolotherapy to aid in the repair of strained ligaments and tendons resulting in hypermobility syndromes.
  • Energetic therapies to reduce or remove scars or adhesions and restore autonomic nervous system control through the use of Neural therapy, acupuncture or laser and Electro-Bloc units.
  • Homeopathic medications, which are employed to enhance the healing response.
  • Neuro-Emotional Techniques to disengage the autonomic nervous system response from remembered or suppressed emotionally traumatic events.

The extent and severity of the damage is a guidepost to how much we can expect in resolution but it is the intent of the practitioners at Integrative Healing Arts that a full restoration of power, endurance and range of motion are the goals of a complete recovery from any manner of trauma.
